Lost Marsh is a 330-acre championship golf course, youth golf academy, beautiful nature preserve, and a spectacular lake designed through the creative ingenuity of the largest voluntary environmental remediation program in Indiana. Besides the stunning greens and magnificent fairways, this year-round recreation and conservation area caters to outdoor enthusiasts with biking and nature trails, fishing, and bird watching. Lost Marsh is one of Chicagoland's most complete golfing facilities and is conveniently located 25 minutes from downtown Chicago. Golfers at Lost Marsh can choose from the 18-hole championship course, a fun-filled 9-hole youth course for future pros, a first-rate 300-yard outdoor driving range, or a heated indoor hitting and putting area to improve your skills. What makes Lost Marsh really unique is the presence of the Hammond Youth Golf Academy, a charter member of the prestigious The First Tee program.
The First Tee of Hammond has come a long way in its six years. The first classes were held in the soccer field of the local YMCA during the summer of 1999 when construction was started on the Lost Marsh Environmental and Recreational facility. The City of Hammond worked together with the USGA and The First Tee to give its youth a top notch learning facility.
Children ages 4 to 17 can join The First Tee of Hammond for a one time fee of $25 for a set of six one-hour lessons. This fee goes towards various programming costs such as events and advertising and also allows members to utilize the golf courses, Learning Center, and enters them into The First Tee Like Sills Program; paying for their Life Skills materials.
